Interactive Media-
Activity 2- Texture

With the digital “revolution” the importance of our eyes' ability to “feel” tactile surfaces has seemed less important. With the wealth of natural and even digital surfaces, and their importance in creating dynamic visual environments and realistic virtual environments, it is important to apply more concentration to the wealth of material available to us.

1. Shoot four or more contrasting clips of various surfaces. Emphasis on quality, not quantity.

2. These clips can either be captured video and/or photographs that you animate in the computer. Animation can be triggered by interaction or pure video.

3. Clips should then be contrasted with one another. Think of different surfaces such as:

straight --- bent
standing --- hanging
light --- heavy
shiny --- matte
dry --- moist
pliable --- rigid
warm --- cold
as so on....

4A. Create a short 30 second looped clip using your textures.
4B. Create an interactive animation that contrasts clips/images with each other.

4C. Create a 3D space using various contrasting textures.
